Invar 36 Bars are composed primarily of approximately 36% nickel with the balance being iron, and trace amounts of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. These bars exhibit a very low coefficient of thermal expansion (about 1.2 x 10^-6 /°C up to 100°C), tensile strength up to 490 MPa, yield strength around 240 MPa, and elongation up to 42%. The alloy combines excellent mechanical strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance with a density near 8.05 g/cm³.
